Communities In Schools® (CIS®) is calling roll on the millions of students, who are absent from school—not by choice, but because of real-life challenges. Communities In Schools addresses chronic absenteeism through trained, caring adults—site coordinators—who remove barriers and help students show up to school, ready to learn.

Funder Spotlight: CareSource

Present for Student Success

CareSource received the 2025 All In for Students Award for Philanthropic Partner in recognition of their commitment to reducing health disparities and supporting vulnerable communities. With a generous $300,000 investment in Communities In Schools, CareSource is helping ensure students have the support they need to stay in school. In the fall, CareSource also launched the “Take the Pledge” campaign, encouraging students, educators, and families to commit to regular attendance.

Who are CIS Site Coordinators?

Site coordinators work daily inside CIS partner schools to implement the CIS model of integrated student supports. They partner with parents, educators, community-based organizations, and school and district leaders every day. Together, this network of support motivates and encourages students to stay on a path to graduation and to achieve in life.
